The thesis was presented by the master’s student, Haider Ali Muftan, on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at 9:30 AM in the Khawarizmi Hall, with the presence of the Dean, Dr. Mufaq Kazem Al-Hasnawi, along with several researchers and faculty members.

The study highlighted the field of objects in thermal imagery, which is vital for applications such as surveillance and autonomous systems.

The researcher concluded the suitability of YOLOv8 for thermal imaging applications and the development of areas relying on precise object detection under challenging thermal conditions.

The examination committee comprised Assistant Professor Dr. Ashwan Anwar Abdul-Mun’im from the University of Karbala, College of Computer Science and Information Technology, as the chairperson, Assistant Professor Dr. Wathiq Luftah Abdul Ali from the Middle Euphrates University of Technology, Karbala Technical Institute, as a member, Assistant Professor Dr. Iyad Hameed Musa from the University of Karbala, College of Computer Science and Information Technology, as a member, and Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Reda Hassoun from the University of Karbala, College of Computer Science and Information Technology, as a member and supervisor.

The discussion concluded successfully, and the researcher, Haider Ali Muftan, was awarded the master’s degree.
