Dr. Na’im Al-Abboudi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, held an extensive meeting with the Turkish Higher Education Council to discuss the prospects of joint academic work and the contexts of understanding between the universities of both countries.
During the joint meeting, the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research expressed its keenness and aspirations for further bilateral relations and scientific partnerships, as well as the development of cooperation paths in scientific research. The ministry expressed readiness to study the project of the Turkish university in Iraq and its specializations that serve the interests of the neighboring countries.
Dr. Al-Abboudi added that higher education in Iraq is moving within the space of global standards in accordance with a strategic vision that enhances the environment of cooperation and coordination with regional and global countries to serve the goals of university institutions and their missions. He noted that Iraqi universities have made positive steps in improving quality and have achieved important indicators related to solid academic reputation.
On his part, the President of the Turkish Higher Education Council, Dr. Arol Ozvar, expressed the Turkish side’s desire to develop joint cooperation programs and scientific and academic understandings, describing the visit of the Iraqi delegation led by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Na’im Al-Abboudi, to Turkey as a historic turning point in deepening the ties between the two countries in the field of higher education and scientific research.
