The first day of the “Careers Conference” kicked off at Karbala University today with the participation of a large group of companies and unions with various specialties.
The conference, organized by the Faculty of Management and Economics, aims to expand the frameworks of cooperation between graduate students and employers in order to enhance employment and training opportunities, encourage young people to build their own projects by drawing inspiration from the experiences of employers, and teach graduates skills appropriate to the requirements of the labor market by strengthening the partnership between the educational institution and the private sector.
The President of Karbala University, Prof. Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali, stated that “the conference represents an important step towards finding the root solution to the inability of the government sector to absorb all human resources from graduates through an approach between graduates and the owners of companies, factories, traders and owners of capital from the private sector, which contributes to solving this issue and advancing the level of the Iraqi economy.”
For his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Management and Economics, Dr. Hashim Al-Husseini, said that “the conference confirms the role that universities can play in qualifying and guiding graduates towards professional paths that keep pace with the development of the market and its needs and translate theoretical science into practical reality.”
“Karbala University has enough expertise and capabilities that can fill the gaps and address economic issues and advance the economy,” he added.
The conference, which was attended by the University’s Assistant President for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Akram Al-Yasiri and a number of professors and interested parties, comes in the context of the directive of Prime Minister Mohammed Shi’a Al-Sudani and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi on the need to pay attention to entrepreneurship and encourage graduates to build their own projects.
