Dr. Maha Sabri Al-Tamimi participated in the annual conference for the deaf and mute community and sign language interpreters, organized by the Holy Threshold on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at the Sibtain University Hall for Medical Sciences at 10:00 AM. She presented her research entitled “The Role of Organizations in Applying Artificial Intelligence for Sign Language in Iraq and Its Importance.”

The research addressed the gap in the use of modern electronic technologies in sign language skills for individuals with hearing impairments. The study aimed to enhance these skills by investigating the impact of designing an electronic environment on the development of sign language skills among sign language users and their associates. The study tools involved applying artificial intelligence algorithms to translate and store the dictionary of Arabic sign language letters and words. The results of the research included several important recommendations, including the use of advanced electronic means to represent and develop Arabic sign language.

The conference was attended by government officials and participants from various Arab countries, including researchers and academics. A range of research studies related to the topic were discussed, leading to recommendations aimed at improving the level of services provided to the deaf and mute community in various institutions and locations.
