A webinar entitled Using raspberry pi in computer science: Benefits and opportunities

The College of Computer Sciences and Information Technology at the University of Karbala, Department of Computer Science, held a Seminar entitled ( sing raspberry pi in computer science: Benefits and opportunities), presented by ( Dr. Asam Hamed Abba ) The Raspberry Pi is a low-cost, credit-card-sized computer that plugs into a computer monitor or TV, and uses a standard keyboard and mouse. The main goal for Rpi is to learn program languages and develop software applications. It has been developed at the University of Cambridge to encourage young people, particularly school students to learn to code. The device has the same main parts of hardware that are available in personal computers with one additional 40 pins GPIO. GPIO uses to connect with other electronic devices to control them and to develop software applications. Rpi operating system is a version of Linux called Rpi os. However, it can work with other operating systems such as Windows 10 core IoT and Android. Linux is an open-source operating system that offers many features for network programming, and learning program languages, and provides the best environment to understand web technology. In addition, Rpi provides the best platform to develop software applications in the field of image processing, IoT, machine learning, and cloud computing. By its very construction, the device will also help to install computational thinking and skills such as decomposition, pattern recognition, logical thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving. The seminar was attended by a number of researchers and professors.
