The Baghdad International Book Fair hosted a special cultural seminar on the Higher Education Reading Award and its impact on the cultural awareness of the Iraqi university community.
The seminar was presented by the head of the organizing committee, advisor to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Alaa Abdul Hassan Attia, who reviewed the process of establishing the competition, which was directed by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, to engage university students in both government and private institutions to take responsibility for organized cultural awareness and confront consumption based on the export of negative content.
He explained that the Higher Education Reading Award in its first edition and its second edition has become part of the interest of the cultural and university community, pointing out that the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Naim Al-Abboudi submitted a proposal to the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) to adopt the Higher Education Reading Award sponsored by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research as an Arab project that includes all Arab educational institutions.
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced the extension of the closing date of the Higher Education Reading Award competition platform (https://awards.mohesr.gov.iq) to 2024/10/5 and the update of the electronic test date to be on Saturday, 2024/10/12, while the date of honoring the winners will be on 2024/10/24.
The winners will receive a prize of one hundred million dinars, with the first ten winners receiving four million dinars for each winner, the second ten winners receiving three million dinars for each winner, the third thirteen winners receiving two million dinars for each winner, and the fourth fourteen winners receiving one million dinars for each winning student.
The conditions of the competition, which is based on reading the book (Islamic Perspectives on the Declaration of Human Rights) by Sayyid Muhammad Al-Sadr, may his soul rest in peace, and the book (The Civilizational Question… How do we create our future in a changing world) by Zaki Milad, include that the competing student must be of Iraqi nationality and be a student of primary studies and continue to attend, and that the age of the competitor is not more than 30 years and that the student’s registration in the competition platform is through the official email provided by his college.
