College of Computer Science and Technology organises a seminar on combating addiction and drug abuse

On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Computer Science and Information Technology held an educational seminar entitled “Combating Addiction and Drug Abuse”.
Dr. Zahraa Shaker Nuni, Assistant Teacher Mustafa Abdulhassan, and Assistant Teacher Fadel Abbas Sabah attended the seminar
The seminar aimed to raise awareness of the danger of drugs and highlight ways to combat them and protect society from their harms.
The seminar included several topics, including the types of narcotic substances of all kinds, and their danger to humans because they damage the cells of the nervous system and the rest of the cells of the human body in case of addiction to them, which leads to the spread of crime due to their negative effects on the psychological state of the addicted person, in addition to explaining the causes of addiction, methods of combating drugs and treatment of addicts through medication or psychotherapy. At the conclusion of the seminar, the lecturers pointed out that the scourge of drugs is now killing society and the importance of raising community awareness to combat drugs is everyone’s task.
