Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Head of the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission, announced that Balad Air Base in Salah al-Din Province and the Nahrawan site in Mada’in District, Baghdad, are free from radioactive pollutants.
This announcement was made during a press conference attended by members of the Diwani Order Committee No. (23580). Dr. Al-Aboudi explained that Iraqi national teams succeeded in removing radioactive contaminants from Balad Air Base in Salah al-Din Province and the Nahrawan site in Baghdad Province in a record time.
He added that this effort is part of a national plan to eliminate pollutants, noting that national oversight teams conducted radiological surveys and confirmed that the sites are completely free of pollutants. The work was carried out according to national and international standards and requirements.
