President of the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission (IAEC) and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi announced that Iraq will soon be completely free of depleted uranium.
This came during his visit to the headquarters of the Arab Atomic Energy Commission in the Republic of Tunisia and his meeting with its Director General Dr. Salem Al-Hamdi, where the two sides discussed areas of Arab cooperation in the field of energy development for peaceful and educational uses.
Dr. Aboudi reviewed the path of the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission’s national vision regarding the zero reactor, research reactor and electro-nuclear power plants, pointing out that the efforts of the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission continue to clear the remaining areas and that the final announcement of Iraq’s complete freedom from depleted uranium residues will be soon.
The President of the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Naim Al-Abboudi extended an official invitation to host the 17th session of the Arab Conference for the Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy in Baghdad.
For his part, the Director General of the Arab Atomic Energy Commission, Dr. Salem Al-Hamidi, expressed his pleasure at receiving the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, who affirmed Iraq’s determination to restore its position in the Arab Atomic Energy Commission, pointing at the same time to the Commission’s need for Iraqi expertise and benefiting from the great scientific momentum that Iraq possesses, and appreciating the generous invitation extended by Iraq to host the 17th session of the Arab Conference organized by the Arab Atomic Energy Commission for the peaceful uses of atomic energy
