Dr. Maher Hassan, a faculty member at the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, participated as a member of the evaluation and selection committee for students taking part in the second season of the national competition “A Nation Reads.” The competition was launched in coordination between the General Secretariat of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The competition aims to foster a spirit of healthy competition among students, encourage youth to read, and develop their critical thinking skills—contributing to the growth of their personal and academic character.
The competition consists of ten diverse themes, from which each student selects five based on their interests and reading preferences. Specialized committees have determined the themes and corresponding books that must be read prior to participating.
Each university in the province will nominate three students to represent it in the final round, which will be held this week at the University of Karbala. The competition also offers generous financial prizes for the winners, ranging from one million to twenty million Iraqi dinars.
