The QS World University Rankings 2025 has announced the results of its 2025 edition, in which 1,500 universities from around the world competed.
The official website of the ranking (https://www.topuniversities.com/world-university-rankings?countries=iq) showed that Iraqi universities obtained competitive ranks, where Baghdad University ranked (801-850), followed by Mustansiriya University (1001-1200), Babylon University (1201-1400), Basra University (1201-1400) and Kufa University (1201-1400).
The QS rankings are based on the criteria of academic reputation (30%), employers (15%), student-teacher ratio (10%), citations (20%), international faculty (5%), international students (5%), international research network (5%), employability (5%), and sustainability (5%).
It is worth noting that Iraq came 37th in the world after 13 universities achieved competitive positions in The Times ranking, while Iraqi universities and colleges recorded their increasing competition in other international rankings, including the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects for the year 2023, in which Baghdad University appeared within the specialty of (Dentistry & Oral Sciences) (Dentistry & Oral Sciences), the Scimago ranking, in which forty-seven institutions are present, the Greenmetric ranking, in which the number of Iraqi educational institutions increased to seventy-four universities and colleges, the RUR ranking, in which forty-five Iraqi universities are present, and the Webometrics ranking, which recorded the presence and competition of more than one hundred Iraqi universities and colleges.
