Head of the Department's Speech

The Information Technology major emphasizes the application of computer technology within society. It aims to prepare professionals skilled in utilizing computer technologies across various fields, including multimedia, network management, network security, website design, Internet technology, the Internet of Things, computer vision, and embedded systems. The Department of Information Technology was established in 2020 as part of the College of Computer Science and Information Technology at the University of Karbala. Its primary goal is to address the shortage of expertise in this specialization within both governmental and private sectors. Given the ongoing technological advancements and the increasing diversity of computer specializations, the establishment of this department was essential for fostering technological development in these institutions by providing them with qualified technical personnel. The department has developed curricula that align with the demands of both local and global markets to ensure that graduates are competitive in the job market.

To achieve this objective, the department has devised a strategic plan to form partnerships with various institutions and companies to facilitate the employment of its graduates. Additionally, it aims to collaborate with international companies that specialize in networking technologies and cloud computing to enhance the practical training aspect and ensure it is aligned with the latest technologies. Furthermore, the department plans to establish twinning programs with internationally recognized universities that excel in information technology. Through these initiatives, the Information Technology specialization plays a vital role in enhancing individual capabilities and addressing the increasing technological needs of society. In conclusion, one of the primary goals of the Information Technology Department is to serve the community by leveraging its expertise in various technological domains. This includes offering training courses aimed at school students, providing advisory services, and implementing collaborative mechanisms to assess and enhance the technological frameworks of governmental and civil institutions.
