The Dean of the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, Dr. Mowaffaq Kazem Al-Hasnawi, accompanied by the Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Mohsen Hassan Hussein, the Head of the Computer Science Department, Dr. Mohannad Kamel Abdul-Hamid, and a number of the college’s faculty members, participated in the activities of the First Scientific Conference of Karbala Scholars for the year 2025.
The college made a distinguished scientific contribution by presenting research papers and innovative ideas that addressed the main themes of the conference, which focused on vital and important issues, namely the challenge of renewable energy and environmental pollution, and the issue of public transportation for the millions of visitors during the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
Several of the college’s faculty members also participated as members of the conference’s scientific committee, contributing to the evaluation of submitted research papers and proposing suitable scientific solutions to the challenges discussed.
The conference witnessed extensive scientific interaction and in-depth discussions aimed at developing scientific visions and sustainable practical solutions that serve the community and meet its growing needs, particularly in the fields of energy, environment, and crowd management.
In his speech during the conference activities, the University President, Professor Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali, stated that, “This conference represents an important step towards generalizing this experience, as it aims to activate the role of scholars in confronting contemporary challenges, anticipating future prospects in various fields, and offering solutions to the different sectors facing various problems.” He also thanked all the efforts made by the professors in the scientific and organizational committees for making this important conference a success.
This participation reaffirms the college’s pioneering role in supporting scientific research and actively contributing to addressing major national issues through academic knowledge and expertise.
