A number of IT students participated in Huawei’s annual competition (Huawei ICT Competition Middle East 2022). The Huawei competition includes three exams. The first is the Preliminary Exam held in one of the Huawei testing centres in Iraq at the end of October. As for the second test, the National Exam, the candidates successful in the first test will compete at the level of Iraq. The candidate successful in the second test qualifies for the Middle East test held in the Sultanate of Oman in December. There are a number of courses required for each test. They start from the basics of Datacom communications, WLAN, and information security, and end up with AI, cloud computing and data storage. Before their participation, the students were trained by the Huawei Academy, Karbala branch, during the summer holiday. Our students took part in the first test and were among the 360 Iraqi students, of which only 60 students qualified in the first round. One female student from the Department of Information Technology qualified for the second round after she ranked 6th at the level of Iraq. She will participate in the national competition in one of the Huawei testing centres inside Iraq on the 22nd of November.
