Karbala University organised a ceremony to honour researchers and innovators who won the “Iraqi Flag Day” awards in conjunction with the University Week, in the presence of the President and members of the University Council and a number of professors, employees and students.

The university president, Prof. Sabah Wajid Ali, said that the honouring represents an important gesture towards developing the educational process and motivating researchers to improve the quality of research, promote excellence in scientific and research performance and achieve advanced positions in international rankings.
He stressed that the university is committed to supporting innovative ideas, promoting successes and improving institutional work indicators to advance the university as a leading scientific institution that contributes to serving the community and meeting the requirements of the labour market.
For his part, the Director of the Scientific Affairs Department, Dr Fadel Al-Musawi, explained that the honour includes distinguished researchers who have good ratings (H-index Scopus) in recognition of their role in enriching scientific research and enhancing the reputation of the university.

He added that the awards do not only include researchers but also include creative people who have a clear imprint in raising the level of the university during the years 2022-2023, such as the distinguished college award in scientific publishing, the distinguished scientific research award, the distinguished scientific journal award that achieved high standards in scientific publishing, the voluntary work award for undergraduate students, the patent and intellectual property award, the distinguished graduation project, in addition to the most committed to sustainability award and the winning formations in the annual exhibition of innovations and scientific products during the years 2022-2023.
