The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr Naim Al-Aboudi, chaired a meeting of the Advisory Council to discuss a range of decisions and procedures related to university affairs under Article 6 of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Law.

The Minister of Education explained that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has given the necessary impetus to the diversity of disciplines and fields and the synergy of academic programmes and is keen to provide the ingredients for success in all its institutions, pointing out that the Ministry has taken a decision to create a model college for distinguished students starting from the next academic year and is currently studying a project to scholarship talented students to international universities in various disciplines required by the requirements of development in Iraq.

The meeting discussed the ministry’s steps to lay the foundation stone for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s central laboratory project and a number of proposals that highlighted the importance of technical education, the development of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, research and training centres at universities, the quality of scientific research and global ranking indicators.
