Dr. Naeim Al-Aboudi, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, honored over a hundred individuals who won the fourth edition of the Al Ain Iraqi University Award for the year 2024. The recipients included pioneering researchers, top university achievers, owners of high-impact research, authors of published books, and distinguished academics.
This took place during an honoring ceremony attended by parliament members, deputies, university presidents, general directors, educators, and researchers. In his speech, the Minister of Education emphasized the importance of scientific research in addressing developmental issues. He pointed out that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has set a strategic goal for its institutions related to the quality of the academic environment, enhancing publication space in reputable journals, establishing global partnerships with repositories and international publishing institutions, launching open accounts for educators, researchers, and students in reputable databases, and adopting successful policies and decisions to incentivize scientific research through direct financial and moral support and initiating the establishment of central scientific laboratories.
He added that the ministry prioritizes scientific research, noting that this vital field is a fundamental axis in developing services and achieving comprehensive progress. The decisions made and the policies adopted in this path enhance incentives for producing quality research, encourage innovation and development with the aim of serving society.
The honoring ceremony included speeches and presentations by the Deputy Minister, Dr. Haider Abdul Dahd, the President of Al Ain Iraqi University, Dr. Shafiq Shaker Shafiq, a representative of Elsevier, a representative of Iranian universities, and a representative of Malaysian universities. The event concluded with the honoring of university presidents whose institutions achieved positive indicators in the field of scientific publishing.
