Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research meets Hungarian Foreign Minister and agree on renewing the cooperation agreement between the two countries.
Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and head of the Iraqi Atomic Energy Authority, Dr. Naeim Al-Aboudi, met with the Hungarian Foreign Minister, Péter Szijjártó, on the sidelines of their participation in the 13th edition of the International Atomic Energy Forum (Atomexpo) held in the Russian city of Sochi.
Both sides welcomed the coordination between the two countries in scientific and academic fields and agreed to renew the bilateral cooperation agreement. They expressed the importance of updating pathways for scientific and cultural exchange and enabling universities in both countries to participate in joint academic programs of mutual interest.
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research emphasized the need to increase the number of scholarships granted to Iraqi students in nuclear energy engineering, nuclear physics, and radiation physics. Meanwhile, he invited Hungarian students to study in Iraqi universities as part of the “Study in Iraq” program.
The minister also outlined Iraq’s strategic plans for the development of zero-reactor nuclear power and clean energy stations, as well as establishing a specialized research environment for educational research in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
