The College of Computer Science and Information Technology at the University of Karbala opened Al-Khwarizmi Hall in the Deanship building of the College on Tuesday, 5/30/2023. It uses for holding conferences, scientific forums and national events.
The President of the University, Prof. Dr. Bassem Khalil Nayel Al-Saidi, and the Assistant Professor, from Akram Al-Yasiri, attended the official opening place.
The hall is equipped with the latest technical equipment.

At the beginning of his speech, the President of the University welcomed the college staff present in the hall to receive him and praised the efforts made in establishing this scientific edifice. Then he spoke about scientific research and increasing its number. Encourage the establishment of research groups. He added that there is a financial and moral award for distinguished research that is published in scientific journals with a high impact factor (Q1, Q2).He also focused on refining students’ skills in their field of specialization, as it is one of the important requirements for a graduate in the labour market.
At the end of his speech, he praised the rapid development taking place in the college, although it is considered one of the young colleges, it has proven, within a short period of time, its distinction, as well as its rise to the ranks of international colleges. He considered the college an important and pivotal nerve of the university in light of the great trend towards programming and information technology in the whole world.
The Dean of the College of Computer Science and Information Technology gave thanks and gratitude to the President of the University for attending the inauguration of this edifice and his interest in the college’s achievements and his continuous support for it. He added that the college is in continuous development in the urban and scientific field. He said that the goal of the college is to produce a generation that possesses the skill and experience in its field of specialization. The college has followed an approach in dealing with large companies and institutions that will raise students’ skills during summer training, in addition to activating the role of the Qualification and Employment Unit by holding specialized courses. In the field of scientific research and the formation of research groups, he presented his vision and expressed optimism that the college will have a remarkable share in the field of scientific research.
