The College of Computer Science and Information Technology organized a workshop titled “Digital Drug Addiction and Its Impact on Individuals and Society (Causes and Prevention Methods)” today, Monday, April 22, 2024, in the scientific departments.
Present at the workshop were Dr. Ilham Mohammed Thabet, Dr. Miras Salman Jawad, and Assistant Professor Azhar Ali Abbas.
The workshop aimed to understand the methods and mechanisms of digital drug proliferation, increase awareness and knowledge about drugs in general, and the danger they pose to public life. It also aimed at steering individuals away from drugs and drug users to safeguard citizens’ lives in general and students’ lives in particular.
The workshop included an explanation of the concept of drugs in general, including digital drugs promoted by some websites on the Internet. These digital drugs consist of sound frequencies containing monaural or binaural beats that users listen to, producing the effect of hypnosis and simulating the effects of conventional drugs.
