The Master’s thesis titled “Cyberbullying Detection in Social Network Using Text Mining Techniques” was discussed at the College of Computer Science and Information Technology at the University of Karbala. The defense was presented by the Master’s student Fatima Nadi Ali Hussein on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 9:30 AM in the Al-Khwarizmi Hall at the Dean’s Office of the College. The defense was attended by Dr. Mufaq Kazim Al-Hasnawi, the Dean, along with several researchers and faculty members.

The study focused on conducting a comprehensive text analysis with an emphasis on identifying entities within the text, such as tweets, mentions, hashtags, retweets, and trends. The researcher found valuable insights regarding online bullying detection, particularly focusing on repeated user mentions and high centralities as reliable indicators. Additionally, the stability of classification labels over time played a significant role in identifying bullying-related content.

The examination committee consisted of:

  • Assistant Professor Dr. Noor Diaa Kazim from the University of Karbala, College of Computer Science and Information Technology, as the Chairman.
  • Assistant Professor Dr. Ehsan Ali Kareem from the University of Karbala, College of Computer Science and Information Technology, as a member.
  • Assistant Professor Dr. Mohsen Hassan Hussein from the University of Karbala, College of Computer Science and Information Technology, as a member.
  • Assistant Professor Dr. Heba Jabbar Abdulwahid from the University of Karbala, College of Computer Science and Information Technology, as a member and supervisor.

The defense concluded successfully, and Fatima Nadi Ali Hussein was awarded the Master’s degree.
