The Department of Information Technology at the University of Karbala / College of Computer Science and Information Technology organized an attendance training workshop entitled ” The health risks and harms resulting from addiction” On Thursday, 4/6/2023 10:30 am, at Al-Khwarizmi Hall in the Deanship building of the college.
The workshop was presented by the lecturers, Dr. Amer Fadel Al-Haidari / College of Medicine and Dr. Zaid Hassan Nasrallah / College of Computer Science and Information Technology.
The workshop included several axes in which it clarified the nature of drugs, the concept of addiction on it, the causes of addiction, harms, negative effects, and the symptoms of a person addicted to drugs.
The workshop aimed to activate the national strategy for the prevention of drugs and prevent the spread of addiction and develop ways to contain this phenomenon, and how to prevent addiction and raise awareness of the health, social and economic effects of drugs on the individual and society.
To the Media Division, the Head of the Information Technology Department, Dr. Zaid Nasrallah, said, “This workshop is part of the activities of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Division, which seeks to educate students about the habit of addiction.” As Dr. Amer Al-Haidari stated, “The workshop explained on ways to prevent drug abuse and its damages on The future of man and his inability to give, work and bear his social burdens like others. The workshop stressed the importance of activating the societal role in combating this phenomenon by creating community awareness among people and revealing the promoters of this deadly scourge.”
To the importance of the topic, Al-khwarizmi’s hall was full, as the workshop were attended by the assistants dean of the College of Computer Science and Information Technology and a number of lecturers and students of the college.
The workshop recommended the need for every individual in society to take his role in limiting drugs, and to tighten the penalties in Iraqi law for those who traffic and promote drugs and make them commensurate with this great crime to deter dealers and promoters, and the need for humanitarian organizations and civil society organizations to take their role in holding educational seminars on The dangers of drug addiction to avoid.
