The Department of Qualification, Employment, and Follow-up at the University of Karbala organized a preparatory training course for participants in the “World University Debating Championship,” including students, judges, and supervisors, in preparation for the launch of the championship activities.
The course included familiarizing participating students with the mechanisms of constructing arguments, defending them, and enhancing their abilities in refuting other arguments.
The curriculum of the five-day course also included teaching judges and supervisors who will participate in the “World University Debating Championship” the mechanisms of judging and supervising the debates, which will kick off their competitions in the coming days within colleges and escalate to the university level.
The “World University Debating Championship” is a new experience in Iraq, with a large participation from Iraqi universities. It aims to equip students with high skills in expression, argumentative discussion, persuasion, and communication, as well as boost students’ self-confidence. The team ranking first in the final qualifiers will qualify to participate in the international competitions to be held in Qatar.
