The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025 released the results of its 2025 edition, which included the ranking of more than 2,000 institutions from 115 countries around the world. Twenty-two Iraqi universities achieved their positions in the rankings, which showed an increase in the number of Iraqi universities compared to the 2024 edition, which saw thirteen universities, making Iraq 29th in the world with the number of Iraqi universities ranked. Universities competed in the Times ranking according to key criteria based on eighteen indicators to evaluate and measure performance in five areas: Teaching (learning environment) 29.5%, research environment 29%, research quality 30%, international outlook 7.5% and industry income 4%. The Times World University Rankings (https://www.timeshighereducation.com/student/where-to-study/study-in-iraq) introduced the “Study in Iraq” programme to introduce international students to Iraqi universities that are evaluated and compete with educational institutions in the world in terms of their performance in the areas of (teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook).
