The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Karbala organized its third periodic scientific conference, the second international, with the participation of researchers from Iraq and abroad.
The conference was held in collaboration with the College of Veterinary Medicine at Mosul University and the College of Agriculture at the University of Karbala, under the slogan “Applied Research and Its Role in Improving Human and Animal Health.”
The conference was attended by the President of the University of Karbala, Professor Dr. Basim Khaleel Nayil Al-Sa’idi, along with his administrative and scientific assistants, Professor Dr. Akram Mohsen Al-Yasiri and Professor Dr. Najm Abdul-Hussein Al-Janabi. Also present was the Chairman of the Higher Education Committee in the Provincial Council, Dr. Mohsen Al-Kanani, along with a group of deans, researchers, and officials.
Professor Dr. Basim Khaleel Nayil Al-Sa’idi stated that “the University of Karbala is keen on the continuity of holding scientific conferences that contribute to elevating the university’s level scientifically and academically.” He emphasized the significant role of veterinary medicine and agriculture faculties in protecting and developing the country’s economy. He added that focusing on applied research in scientific conferences contributes to addressing many of the society’s problems. Al-Sa’idi called on participating researchers to come up with recommendations that effectively contribute to the development of the country’s animal wealth.
Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, Professor Dr. Wafaq Al-Bazi, emphasized that “animal wealth is an essential part of the country’s economy and contributes to achieving food security and economic growth.” The conference aimed to study human and animal health and exchange scientific experiences among researchers to protect public health, raise awareness about the importance of preventing common diseases, and provide health advice and nutritional guidance.
On the sidelines of the conference, the Student Activities Unit at the college organized an art exhibition in support of Palestinian women, featuring a large collection of artworks. Additionally, the university president and a group of professors were honored during the conference.
