College of Tourism Sciences / University of Kerbala has organized a scientific conference on sustainable tourism, with the participation of a group of researchers and academics.
The conference, which is held under the slogan “Sustainable tourism development, the well-being of society and suitable economic growth,” aims at enhancing awareness of the economic, social, and environmental importance of sustainable tourism, exchanging expertise and experiences between parties concerned with the tourism sector, supporting cooperation between them, and providing scientific recommendations for the development of sustainable tourism in Iraq.
The conference includes economic, social and environmental topics that have been discussed through more than (30) papers by researchers from various Iraqi public and private universities.
The conference activities attended by President of the University, Prof. Dr. Basim K. Nile, and the Vice for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Akram Mohsen Al-Yasiri, in addition to a group of deans of colleges and official figures in the governorate.
Prof. Dr. Basim K. Nile, stresses that the conference provides an opportunity to develop sustainable tourism in Iraq and Karbala in particular, given many tourism potentials that the governorate has.
Prof. Dr. Basim K. Nile states that the governorate needs more efforts to enhance tourism promotion and advance its tourism sector as a tributary of economic development.
For his part, Dean of College of Tourism Sciences, Asst. Prof. Dr. Radhi Hamoud Jassim, says that the college has taken a set of measures that place it at forefront of all corresponding colleges, as it has worked to creating postgraduate studies to meet students’ needs to complete their scientific career. The college has provided various requirements for implementing this project. It also creates a travel and aviation services department with aim of preparing specialized human crews with experience to manage work at airports.
