The Women’s Affairs Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in cooperation with Karbala and Zahra (PBUH) Universities for Girls, organized the first annual Al-Ghadeer Festival, with the participation of a large number of university professors and representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Global Research.
The festival, which was held under the slogan “Women in the perspective of Imam Ali (peace be upon him), included a set of speeches and poems that showed the extent of the contribution of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) in establishing women’s rights within the framework of the Holy Qur’an and the Prophetic Sunnah, as well as organizing a dialogue seminar on women in the thought of Imam Ali (peace be upon him)
The President of Karbala University, Prof. Dr. Bassem Khalil Nayel Al-Saadi, in a speech delivered on his behalf by the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Karbala University, Prof. Dr. Wafaq Al-Baz: “Allegations that religion treats women as second-class creatures are derived from superficial opinions and attitudes that deliberately or ignorantly ignore the clear and explicit principles of the Holy Quran, which stipulates that women should be given their rights without diminishing them.”
Saidi added, “Imam Ali (peace be upon him) set an honorable status for Muslim women, which can be understood through his practical life with the Lady of the Women of the Worlds.”
Members of the Women’s Affairs Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, a number of deans of Karbala and Zahraa universities and members of the women’s empowerment units at the two universities participated in the festival, which was hosted by Zahraa University for Girls.
