The master’s thesis titled “Verifying the Facial Kinship Evidence to Assist Forensic Investigation Based on Deep Neural Networks” was discussed at the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of Karbala. The thesis was presented by the master’s student, Ru’a Kazem Khalef Faraj, on Monday, February 12, 2024, at 9:30 AM in Al-Khwarizmi Hall at the Deanery of the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, in the presence of Dr. Mufaq Kazem Al-Hasnawi, the Dean, along with several researchers and faculty members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The study focused on verifying facial kinship evidence to aid forensic investigations using deep neural networks. The researcher developed a new architecture for a Three-Dimensional Convolution Neural Network system to detect kinship between individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The examination committee consisted of Professor Dr. Ahmed Tarek Sadek from the University of Technology, Computer Science Department, as the chairperson; Assistant Professor Dr. Iyad Hameed Musa from the University of Karbala, College of Computer Science and Information Technology, as a member; Assistant Professor Dr. Heba Jabbar Abdul Wahid from the University of Karbala, College of Computer Science and Information Technology, as a member; and Assistant Professor Dr. Noor Diaa Kazem from the University of Karbala, College of Computer Science and Information Technology, as both a member and supervisor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The defense was successful, and the researcher Ru’a Kazem Khalef Faraj was awarded the Master’s degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
