With the presence of prominent Arab academic figures, the University of Baghdad assumes the rotating presidency of the Association of Arab Universities.

The University of Baghdad has taken over the current presidency of the fifty-sixth session of the Association of Arab Universities, coinciding with the sixtieth anniversary of the Union’s establishment.

The University of Baghdad witnessed the launch of the General Conference of Arab Universities, attended by a gathering of parliamentary, academic, Arab, and Iraqi figures, as well as representatives of international organizations and unions.

At the beginning of the opening session, Dr. Bahaa Ibrahim Insaf, the President of the University of Baghdad, welcomed the Arab university delegations in Baghdad, expressing the joy of the Iraqi academic community with this session, chaired by Iraq.

He emphasized that the Arab Universities meeting represents an important opportunity to enhance academic cooperation and contribute to providing an environment for responsible idea exchange aimed at developing the educational field in Arab academic institutions.

On his part, Dr. Lotfi Belkacem, the President of the University of Sousse and the previous session’s president of the Union, expressed his gratitude for holding the conference in Baghdad, affirming his anticipation for a new phase of cooperation between universities and educational bodies in the Arab world to establish effective foundations for joint work.

Dr. El Hadi Belhadj Salah, the President of Al-Mansour University College and the previous session’s president of the Union, stated that the challenges facing our Arab societies have become evident, and it is the responsibility of universities to confront them through scientific approaches. He pointed out that the Association of Arab Universities is an important platform for joint work among Arab universities.
