The QS global ranking for subjects (QS World University Rankings by subject) has announced its results for the year 2024.
The ranking evaluated universities across academic disciplines, encompassing fifty-five subjects based on indicators related to academic reputation, employer reputation, research impact of faculty members, and international research collaboration. This edition of the ranking included 1,559 institutions for this year out of 4,989 universities whose data underwent analysis.
The University of Baghdad achieved positive results in the following disciplines:
- Engineering-Petroleum (101-150)
- Engineering-Mechanical (301-350)
- Engineering-Chemical (351-400)
- Engineering and Technology (344)
- Engineering-Electrical and Electronic (351-400)
- Computer Science and Information Systems (551-600)
- Medicine (551-600)
This edition of the ranking marks a significant progress in the competitive rankings for the specialized colleges of the University of Baghdad, particularly in engineering and medicine, which engaged in significant competition within the specialized fields globally.
It’s worth noting that Iraq ranked 37th globally after 13 universities achieved competitive positions in The Times ranking. Iraqi universities and colleges have demonstrated their rising competitiveness in other global rankings, including the Shanghai Subject Rankings for 2023, where the University of Baghdad appeared in Dentistry & Oral Sciences. Additionally, they have made appearances in rankings such as QS, Scimago, Greenmetric, RUR, and Webometrics, showcasing the presence and competition of over one hundred Iraqi universities and colleges.
