The President of Karbala University, Prof. Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali, inaugurated the “Palm and Dates Cultural Festival” exhibition organized by the Faculty of Education for Pure Sciences on the sidelines of the “Palm and Dates Cultural Festival” for the first year with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of afforestation and eliminating desertification.
The exhibition, organized by the college in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Holy Husseiniya Threshold, included various types of dates, plants and products extracted from them, as well as various types of indoor and outdoor plants.
The festival came with the aim of spreading the culture of afforestation and its importance in the environmental balance by increasing the green spaces by planting them with palm seedlings and ornamental plants and highlighting the status of Iraqi dates and enhancing their status as an important agricultural and economic product.
The activities of the festival were attended by the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Haider Mohammed Omran, Dean of the Faculty of Education for Pure Sciences, Prof. Dr. Hamida Eidan, Director of Fadak Farm, Engineer Fayez Abu Al-Maali, as well as a group of experts and specialists in the field of agriculture, in addition to a group of experts and specialists in agriculture.
“The holding of this festival reflects our commitment to developing the agriculture sector and promoting awareness of the importance of palm trees and their products economically and socially,” said Dr. Haider Mohammed Omran, Assistant to the President for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Haider Mohammed Omran.
