The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, presided over the official launch conference of the Electronic Higher Education ID, attended by the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Higher Education, senior ministry officials, presidents of public and private universities, the Head of the Iraqi Academics Syndicate, and a large group of students.
In his speech, the Minister emphasized that the Ministry has made a strategic decision to fully digitize the university environment by implementing 120 electronic systems covering services for students, resource management, academic operations, and communications—culminating in the introduction of the smart digital university ID. He noted that launching the electronic ID marks a milestone in the digital transformation and smart governance of Iraq’s educational institutions.
The Minister personally supervised the distribution of the new electronic IDs to a number of university students, affirming that this digital shift within Iraq’s higher education environment aligns with the broader goals of internationalizing education, building global partnerships, and enhancing Iraq’s international reputation in academic rankings and research databases.
The launch conference included presentations and live demonstrations showcasing the digital transformation landscape within the Ministry and how the electronic university ID will be used in practice.
