The College of Computer Science and Information Technology at the University of Karbala, in collaboration with the Industrial Advisory Council and the Technology Incubator Unit within the college, held a training workshop entitled:

“Artificial Intelligence in the Job Market: Tools and Programming Integration”

The event took place on April 22–23, 2025, with the participation of several faculty members and students from the Department of Computer Science.

The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of artificial intelligence in today’s professional environment and to familiarize students with the most important AI tools currently used across various sectors. It also sought to explain methods for integrating AI technologies into modern software, while encouraging the exchange of practical project ideas in this field.

Workshop topics included:

  • A detailed presentation of ready-made AI tools such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, DALL·E, Power BI Copilot, and others.
  • A hands-on explanation of how to integrate these tools into software projects using APIs (Application Programming Interfaces).
  • Presentation of executable project ideas based on AI, such as smart archiving systems, educational assistants, text analysis tools, and test generation systems.

Workshop presenters:

  • Asst. Prof. Dr. Hiba Adnan Raheem – Head of the Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Unit
  • Lecturer Mortada Salah Mohammed – Head of the Technology Incubator Unit at the college

At the conclusion of the workshop, a discussion session was held with students to exchange ideas for future projects. Proposals were made to hold more specialized future courses, including:

  • A course on using intelligent design tools such as Canva AI to produce presentations and interactive content.
  • A course on AI-powered scientific research tools, such as academic summarization, reference generation, and research paper analysis.

Additionally, the workshop addressed the importance of raising awareness about the risks of irresponsible AI use and the need to build a culture of ethical technology use among students and developers.

This workshop is part of the college’s broader strategy to support applied digital skills and strengthen students’ engagement with the rapidly evolving technological landscape in the job market.
