The College of Computer Science and Information Technology at the University of Karbala hosted a training course titled “How to Handle Emergency Incidents and Fire Safety”, organized by the Civil Defense Division at the University in cooperation with the Center for Continuing Education. The initiative is part of the university’s efforts to promote a culture of public safety and raise awareness of preventive measures among students and staff.
The course featured lectures by a group of specialists in civil defense and first aid, including:
- Lieutenant Abdul Hassan Taha Abd from the Civil Defense Directorate
- Lieutenant Khudair Yas Shaker from the Civil Defense Directorate
- Dr. Hadi Jawad Kazem from the College of Nursing
- Medical Assistant Riyadh Hameed Abd Ali from the Karbala Health Department
The training covered essential topics such as how to respond to emergency situations, safe evacuation procedures, the use of handheld fire extinguishers, and providing first aid to victims of fires and suffocation—all aimed at protecting lives and minimizing damage in emergency scenarios.
During the course, the lecturers stressed the importance of cooperation between educational institutions, civil defense, and health departments in spreading preventive awareness and reinforcing safety concepts within the academic community.
