International Students at University of Karbala Launch First Cultural Magazine About Iraq — Honored by University President

The President of the University of Karbala, Prof. Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali, honored a group of international students for their efforts in launching a cultural magazine that showcases Iraq’s rich civilization and cultural heritage.

The magazine, titled “Guests in the Land of Civilization,” was created by a group of Arab and international students studying at the university. It’s considered a unique initiative across Iraq, led entirely by international students.

The magazine features various articles exploring different aspects of Iraq’s civilization, history, and cultural landmarks from across the country.

Dr. Hawraa Jabbar Rahi, Director of the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations at the university, noted that this cultural initiative reflects the spirit of openness and cross-cultural interaction, and showcases the positive experience international students are having at the university.

The university is committed to supporting such efforts that help build a positive global image of Iraq and highlight its deep cultural and historical legacy. These students are seen as ambassadors for Iraq in their home countries, carrying messages of coexistence and cultural pride from the land of Mesopotamia.

President Dr. Sabah Wajid also emphasized the university’s dedication to supporting international students and helping overcome any challenges they face. He praised the initiative as a sign of the students’ satisfaction with their academic journey in Iraq, also recognizing the important role Iraqi students have played in welcoming and supporting their international peers.

Looking ahead, the university plans to expand on this experience by launching a regular magazine written and edited by international students, to further highlight Iraq’s cultural richness in a positive and creative way.

The University of Karbala continues to welcome growing numbers of international students through the “Study in Iraq” program launched by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, strengthening its academic and cultural presence regionally and globally while offering an inclusive and diverse learning environment.
