The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, presided over the signing of an academic protocol between the Ministry and the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education, as part of the ongoing cooperation between the Republic of Iraq and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The protocol, which was signed at the headquarters of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and enters into effect as of Monday, May 26, 2025, aims to strengthen the framework of scholarship programs and foster cooperation between the Institute and the Ministry, as well as Iraqi universities and research centers. It also focuses on the development of joint educational and research programs to address water-related challenges.
During a press conference held on the sidelines of the signing ceremony, and in the presence of Her Excellency Ms. Janette Alberda, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Minister Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi emphasized the importance of mutual understanding regarding scholarship exchange within the framework of the “Study in Iraq” program. He highlighted the significance of capacity building, skills development, training programs, and the advancement of academic curricula related to water sciences and their specialized fields.
For his part, Dr. Eddy Moors, Dean of the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education, expressed his pleasure at the signing of the cooperation protocol with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. He affirmed the agreement on academic, student, and research exchange between Iraq and the Netherlands and underscored the commitment to ensuring the success of the program and the collaboration between the two institutions.
