In Preparation for the Reopening of the Headquarters of the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils in Baghdad: Minister of Higher Education Receives the Secretary-General and Discusses Final Preparations

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, received the Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils, Dr. Abdelmajid Ben Amara, as part of the ongoing preparations to reopen the Union’s headquarters in the capital, Baghdad.

The two sides discussed procedural and technical preparations related to the inauguration of the headquarters, as well as efforts to coordinate with Iraqi universities to activate the Union’s role in supporting Arab research projects and enhancing academic cooperation.

Minister Al-Aboudi emphasized that the return of the Union’s headquarters to Baghdad represents a strategic milestone, reflecting the growing confidence in Iraq’s role and its academic institutions in leading scientific initiatives and promoting joint Arab efforts in the fields of science, technology, and innovation. He noted that the Ministry is committed to providing all necessary support to ensure the success of this significant event.

For his part, Dr. Abdelmajid Ben Amara expressed his appreciation for the substantial support extended by Minister Al-Aboudi, particularly in terms of logistical and institutional engagement, marking the beginning of a new phase of Arab research integration originating from Baghdad.

It is worth noting that the inauguration of the Union’s headquarters is scheduled to take place on Friday, May 16, 2025, in the presence of prominent Arab and international academic figures, on the sidelines of the Fifth Session of the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit, hosted by the city of Baghdad.
