The President of the University of Karbala, Professor Dr. Basim Nael Khleel Al-Saadi, represented the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research at a conference organized by the University of Warith Al-Anbiya. The conference, titled “The First International Conference on Engineering Sciences,” was held in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Geotechnology Scientific Society, and Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University.
During the conference, Al-Saadi highlighted the accomplishments of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research through its electronic platform for applied research, which has produced nearly 50,000 projects aimed at connecting institutions with universities and their scientific research centers. He also mentioned unprecedented decisions made by the ministry, such as adopting the Bologna Process and preparing its requirements to enable Iraqi universities to keep pace with changes in teaching and learning methods.
The conference aimed to facilitate the exchange of ideas and strengthen scientific research efforts. It attracted 166 researchers from inside and outside Iraq, addressing various topics related to civil engineering, mechanical engineering, petroleum engineering, geotechnology, road and bridge engineering, and water resources.
The organizers announced that the research presented at the conference will be published in indexed journals within international databases. The event was attended by officials and academics from inside and outside Iraq, as well as researchers and students from the College of Engineering.
